- The design inquiry/problem I am addressing involves sparking an interest and providing information all the while incorporating visual communication design and interaction design.
- Technology factors in with my design problem in that I hope to make the project be interactive.
- In regards to whether the project's concept is original yes it is original although there are books on the subject.
- I believe there is a need and/or niche for this design concept in the I hope to present the material in more of a fun, interactive, game like manner that allows the information regarding the advancement and upgrades to come to life.
- The determined audience is anyone interested in aircraft carriers, the navy, history, and maritime security appealing and allow those who cannot visit a Navy historical shipyard an opportunity to learn in an interactive manner with the information.
- The design will be of value to the audience as it will be informative in a fun and easy to use manner.
- The design will contribute to the design field in a meaningful way and will contribute society in the it will push design to expose how it can be utilized in a fun and informative manner for learning.
- In regard to how practical the design problem is and whether it is within my ability – I hope it will be challenging yet possible.
- I am comfortable with interaction design methods and concepts, as well as photo shop, Illustrator, After Effects, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Maya.
- I will need to research more about flash and HTML interaction as I am currently learning these.
- As stated above I am somewhat comfortable with the above technical aspect.
- Also as stated above I will need to research more about flash and HTML interaction
9. The project is larger in scope than a mere portfolio example as it will require more learning and
research than a traditional "mere portfolio example."
10. The project will challenge me to push to create a design that is fun and informative as well as
assist those that learn from a distance and/or differently.

Who are these favorite designers:
Massimo Vignelli
What has he done: -Modernist
-Designed subway system in New York City
-Very influential in bringing Helvetica to America
-Created American Airlines Logo which lasted longer than any other airline logo (in fact it just changed last year).
-Designs have a sense of timelessness and purpose
Influence on me:
I was not fully aware of all he had done till last semester; I like the sense of purpose, I realized that is what I have been striving for – balance between purpose
and creativity.
Influence on future:
I want to find a way to use design to help people; I think it is its greatest purpose.
Theory vs. Practice:
Design Theory
This is a difficult term to provide a definition….
Theoretical Project
This would relate to something that has not been practiced or done yet and you do not know whether it will actually work.
Project Routed in Design Practice:
This would relate to something that has been done and you have resources or references for the project.
Potential sources for design Research:
AIGA, Design books, video games, the things and people listed above that interest me.
Projects rooted in passion:
Yes….Vignelli – the manner in which he speaks about the New York Subway system.
My own passion:
How things work – understanding the world around me; I love to learn how things work.
Explore aspect:
Yes, I think so – when I have to do a project on anything I have to do a tone of research on the subject to make a good design and project. This relates to my passion about learning how things work.
Hunt Statement:
I hope to incorporate my knowledge and skills from illustration, animation, static design, and interaction design. It is different than what I have done before, it is more developed and encompassing – I believe it will push my own critical thinking skills beyond the current level. As far as the challenges – I am attempting to incorporate all of the above and ultimately find a way to make the design inform people – I want to fight to make complex information simple.
